The Top 5 brought us back to the 1960′s and British Pop on last night’s epsiode of American Idol. Skylar Laine killed it with Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” — Jessica Sanchez of course hit every note when she sang Ike and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” but it was Hollie Cavanagh who knocked it out of the park with her rendition of Tina Turner’s River Deep Mountain High. Britain’s Got Talent: 32-year-old Lorna has been impersonating US pop-singing sensation Britney Spears for 10 years of her life, even going so far as to get cosmetic work done as and when her idol does. Using her talent of looking like Britney – Lorna’s decided to perform one of her most popular songs – Toxic, including the incredibly sexy outfit worn in the music video! The outfit raises many an eyebrow in the theatre as it’s rather revealing! Will Lorna’s uncanny resemblance to Britney be enough to send her through to the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals, or will her half naked table dance be just too much for the judges to stomach?
One week after featuring the songs of Queen, “American Idol” producers shook things up by showcasing British music. Preparing for another night at the judge’s table, Jennifer Lopez was spotted on set for the filming of “American Idol” on Wednesday evening (May 2). The “On The Floor” songstress looked stunning in a red knee length dress with a sexy mesh center while she rocked a red lip and sleek straight locks. Hollie Cavanagh, whose family is British, is singing Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” as the five “American Idol” finalists do songs from the UK. It’s slow, emotional and compelling — she’s such a strong vocalist. Sits on the piano the whole time; problem is not sure it’ll be that memorable by the end of the night, not a song a lot of Americans know. “I loved it, I loved it, I loved it,” says Steven Tyler. “You nailed it, and I don’t even know that song.” The scramble was on to land a spot in the final four on “American Idol,” but to say any one competitor has a lock on this season would be ridiculous. It’s anyone’s game, as we saw tonight, with back-to-back solid showings. Everyone is bringing their A-game as the week’s dwindle, and one wannabe Idol is attempting a serious comeback from behind.
