Espana guitars on eBay are generally listed as a Hagstrom
derived guitar. Hagstrom sold guitars for a long while before
they actually made guitars, so this is probably due to the
distribution channel that Hagstrom operated in Europe. See

A company called Bjarton manufactured Espana guitars
for some time, but word is that all Bjarton information has
been lost and as yet I can't confirm a connection.
The Espana range of guitars was a brand name created for
Buegeleisen & Jacobson. Karl Hagstrom gave the brand name
Espana to Buegeleisen & Jacobson to compete with Hershman
and the Goya guitars. Later on B&J moved production of the
Espana guitars to the Finnish manufacturer Landola.
Landola are still in business and well respected. It is
generally accepted that they made the better versions of the
Espana. Landola guitars were made in Finland in their
factory in Jakobstad on the west coast of Finland. You can
usually tell a Landola acoustic model by a crown logo inlaid
somewhere in the body or headstock. See Landola guitars on eBay
As to origins or the history of Espana guitars on eBay
beyond a possible connection to Scandinavia, I have little
information. Some collectors have noted seeing the Hagstrom
Sticker label inside guitars, saying Hagstrom Oslo. Also the
Espana headstock may be similar to Hagstroms.
