Decorative Art

The artistic decoration of objects with
practical use which pleases the eye but also
concerns itself with other senses such as our sense of
touch, taste and smell.
Cake decorating pleases the
eye but also, like a fine meal, pleases our sense of
taste. Decorative candles please the eye but also may be
scented to please our sense of smell. Cushions with artistic
renditions of embroidery, are padded or may please our sense of
touch with velvets or silks, similarly clothing that uses fine
fabrics, that has trims of lace or an uncommon design or
combination of colour pleases both eye and
touch.
A car is a practical
object which takes us from one place to another, a car is not
art as such. But the addition of soft padding in the
seats and leather upholstery, polished wooden dashboards, air
brushed exterior paint work in unusual designs, attention to
design in its form, the addition of sculpted parts unnecessary
for it's function - these can make a car a work of
art.
A window is designed to be seen through
but stained glass converts it to something to look at that also
changes the quality and colours of light that passes through
it. A strip of leather will hook through and hold up fabric or
trousers but can also be tooled with patterns and studded with
metal or jewels.
